| The first thing that caught me
was this huge empty space in the middle of
his Vehicle Mode. Because so many
parts come apart and such, he is actually
somewhat flimsy in this mode. His
Battle Armor Prime head is also plainly
visible here, which reminds me somewhat of
TM2 Megatron,
which has his robot head on its tail,
plain as day in Beast Mode.
His cab easily pulls off and becomes the
very awesome Optimus Prime. His
trailer can become a base, become an
enhancement for Prime, or combine
with him completely to form his
"Battle Mode."
In Battle Mode,
this toy rocks. The only complaint
is that I don't know what to do with
that massive huge ladder of his.
It's really big. It's gotta be a
phallic symbol... But anyway, the
only detriment I can find in this mode
is that if you sling the ladder over his
shoulder like in the cartoon (from what
I've seen), the pegs suddenly don't
become enough to hold his new upper body
in place, and it sort of falls
off. This problem is revisited in
his Vehicle Mode, where the same pegs
are prone to coming apart and causing
the trailer to do so as well.
Actually, there is one other problem: his
middle body doesn't provide much in the
way of support, which is a bigger problem
for his Omega Prime mode than anything
else.
The base mode is
somewhat... lame, but anything is an
improvement over Powermaster Optimus
Prime. This beats it by a LOT. Comparison
to Japanese version: The plastic isn't as
"shiny," but the Autobot symbols
add a lot. Also, the missiles in the
ladder don't fire when they are deployed,
like in the Japanese version. You
have to fire them separately. |
